Our Story
Austin TX Wood Flooring started the way a lot of local businesses do — with a truck, a nail gun, and a simple idea. Our founder had spent years working for a national flooring franchise and saw the same thing everywhere: homeowners getting hit with surprise fees, crews that showed up late or not at all, and a corporate office three states away that didn't know Austin from Amarillo. He figured there was room for a local company that actually picked up the phone, showed up when they said they would, and charged what they quoted.
So in 2015, with one truck and a two-person crew, we started serving Austin and the surrounding communities. The first year was mostly residential installations — oak, maple, and hickory in Round Rock and Cedar Park homes. Word got around. Builders started calling for new construction hardwood. Property managers needed refinishing between tenants. A few interior designers in Austin asked if we handled custom patterns like herringbone and chevron, and we said yes. By year ten, we had expanded to six services, added a second crew, and were serving six cities across the Austin metro area.

Our Approach to Wood Flooring in Austin
Austin's climate presents specific challenges for wood flooring. Humidity swings from humid summers to dry winters cause boards to expand and contract. We acclimate every wood product to your home for 48 to 72 hours before installation, following National Wood Flooring Association standards. This prevents gaps, buckling, and cupping later.
Subfloor preparation is the other half of a lasting floor. We inspect every subfloor for flatness, moisture, and structural integrity before installation. Austin's older homes (pre-1980) often have settled plywood subfloors, while slab homes can have cracks and moisture issues. We fix these problems before the flooring goes down — not after.
Our finishes are built to last. We apply 2 to 3 coats of polyurethane or hardwax oil, each with proper drying time. The result is a floor that looks beautiful for 7 to 10 years before needing refinishing — and a floor that can be refinished 4 to 6 times over its 50 to 100 year lifespan.
